Customer Preferred Warranty Agreements (CPWA) for Thomas Built Bus Customers

The Customer Preferred Warranty Agreement program is unique to Thomas Built Buses (TBB) and allows customers with a CPWA to make their own repairs for Thomas Built Buses and DTNA warranty claims and recalls. CPWA customers making warranty claim and recall repairs will be reimbursed for labor and parts costs. In order to be reimbursed, customers must submit a work order within 30 days of the repair with any defective parts and include all of the following information (as required by DTNA/TBB). Work orders cannot be processed until all of the below information is provided. To have your work order processed as quickly and efficiently as possible, please be sure to include all of this information.

  • Date of repair
  • VIN (minimum last 8)
  • Mileage
  • Complaint (EX: dome lights inoperable)
  • Cause (EX: switch cracked)
  • Correction (EX: replaced dome light switch)
  • List parts used
  • Labor time
  • Lift model #, Serial #, and Cycle count (only applicable for wheelchair lift repairs)

While CPWA customers are permitted to make many of their own repairs, they are not authorized to make repairs to major components, such as the engine or transmission, even with a CPWA.
