NHTSA Recall Number: 19V-712
Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain Thomas Built Buses school buses equipped with Syntec seats. There is potential the seats may not meet FMVSS 222. The suspect population of Syntec seats may have been manufactured with styrene blocks that do not provide sufficient impact absorption in the knee impact zone (see photo).
Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2, EFX, and HDX models and Type-A Minotours manufactured between July 5, 2013-August 15, 2019 are affected by this recall. The fix for this recall will include installation of an additional impact material between the re-bond back and the vinyl back cover. There is not a “do not drive” warning associated with this recall.
Exercising extreme caution, DTNA chose to conduct a voluntary recall campaign to properly identify and remedy all buses that may be affected. There have been no reported accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Customers will be notified via mail in early December by DTNA of all buses in their fleet that are included in this recall.
