New President Named at Freightliner Custom Chassis

GAFFNEY, S.C. — Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) has a new president and CEO: Jeff Sather.

In his new position, Sather will lead all operations at FCCC, which manufactures chassis for Thomas Built school buses as well as motorhomes, walk-in vans, and commercial buses. Like Thomas Built Buses, FCCC is a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA).

In his most recent role, Sather acted as the financial business partner for DTNA’s operations and specialty vehicles group as well as the company’s aftermarket division. He began his career at DTNA in 2001, with previous experience in the automotive business.

Sather will report to Jeff Allen, senior vice president of operations and specialty vehicles.

As the president and CEO of FCCC, Sather succeeds David Carson, who was appointed president of DTNA’s Western Star Trucks. Carson is also a member of the DTNA operating committee and the chief diversity officer for the company.

In Carson’s new role, he succeeded Kelley Platt, who was promoted within the Daimler AG global organization to president and CEO of Daimler’s truck joint venture Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co. in China. Platt’s previous roles with DTNA have included serving as president and CEO of Thomas Built Buses from 2010 to 2015.
