“Life is like a box of chocolates.”
In the heart of Savannah, Georgia – the same setting of this famous line – #TeamSonny delighted in some of the sweetest of treats earlier this month at the 2022 Thomas Built Buses Dealer meeting. Twelve members of Team Sonny attended the four- day event which featured a golf outing, informative meetings, a product display night, and several opportunities for networking with other Thomas dealer representatives from across North America. Savannah’s famed restaurants, taverns and nightlife also provided attendees a chance to celebrate and enjoy revelry and team building with southern hospitality flair.
The highlight of the week was the Annual Presidents Club Awards Banquet – where Sonny Merryman was well represented. The Sonny Merryman parts department team, led by Parts Manager Derek Shelton, was recognized as a Gold Level dealer parts organization and a finalist for the coveted Platinum award. Service Trainer, Daniel Droog brought home honors as the Southern Region Trainer of the Year and also was a finalist for National Trainer of the Year. Droog has received the regional honor five years in a row and is a two-time past recipient of National Trainer of the Year recognition. Not to be outdone, the Sales Team also earned accolades from Thomas as well. Eastern Region Sales Manager, Mike Wirt and Western Region Sales Manager, Cory Compton each earned Eagles Nest distinction as top sales producers.
Collectively, the entire Sonny Merryman organization was named Southern Regional Dealer of the Year and came up only a tad short for National Dealer of the Year honors. Kerlin Bus Sales and Leasing from Silver Lakes, Indiana deservedly was named Dealer of the Year. Sonny Merryman is the only six-time Dealer of the Year honoree – 1989, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2013 and 2019.
